Got Possum? Get Jack Russell! pic.

I have more than my fair share of coons and possums here on the farm. I let my Jack Russell named Bodhi take care of them.... He ran this one up a tree after it was snooping around my coops in early a.m.

One thing I noticed about coons is they will NOT come down from a tree in the daytime but the dumb possums always try to make a break for it.

Here is a pic. of the critter about 5 minutes before he made his attempt at a getaway. I walked out to see what Bodhi had up the tree, snapped this on my cell phone and walked away...

I do not have to say what happened to possum...

Will a possum hurt a jack? (I have never seen one, as we don't really have them here.)

No the possums do not hurt him. Bodhi holds them by the neck and shakes them and they die quickly.

It scares me when he takes coons on but there is no stopping a jack when they go after one... Bodhi has scars and missing 1 tooth from when he took on a male coon that was bigger than him... And yes he killed it...

That pic. was taken this past summer and since them he has killed 4 possums and 3 coons!

Shotgun works better, caught one in the garage with the fishing net, took it outside and finished him off. The second one my dog got ahold of and held it till I was able to take care of it.

Yes, terriers of any kind will hunt We have a Chug. He doesn't seem to know when to stop either. Round our place, terriers are referred to as "terrorists" , cause without something to "play" with, they are just plain a nuisance. My Chug has a real fondness for small kittens. Like your terrier and his possoms, my chug thinks kittens are "shake weights" Made it real hard getting mousers established on the place.
