Hello, I purchased a set of all female chicks from Meyer hatchery this summer. Today they are 14 weeks old exactly and my green queen was crowing at dawn repeatedly! It startled me and now I’m suspicious she’s actually a rooster 😢

I can’t find any online pictures of what a green queen rooster would look like BUT she’s by far my biggest chicken and the meanest she picks on all the other hens.

Oh no now I’m really worried! I’ll post some closer pics when I get home, but now I’m curious why no one thinks it’s a green queen? Is it common for hatcheries to send the wrong breed? All my other breeds are accounted for so she has to be a green queen but I know they are a newer hybrid so maybe that’s the confusion?

Green queens are mixes. Basically Easter Eggers. It's possible they will look different with each hatchery depending on what breeds they use for the mix. Once you get a better pic, we can try to tell the breed!

Update on possible green queen rooster 😱
