Grey game, not sure of purity.

I had bought this 2 year old grey game being told it was a "Lonestar" Law cock, owner said he was all white on top before he molted and then gold and a reddish brown came out, now I know gold is recessive and any black fowl carry it BUT he had a pea comb! He does have yellow legs and some of his hackle feathers have hints of black growing out from the center, and if I'm not mistaken his new hackle feathers are coming out all black. (Was attacked by dog)

Only had him for a month and got a lot of his plumage back fast.

Can anyone help me determine what mix is possible here? I don't believe it to be 99% grey especially law..

So from what I understand the Law grey is silver grey color with yellow legs.

The black feathers you see are probably just eclipse feathers coming in temporarily during molt.

The red shoulders are sign that he is mixed with something most likely. I dont specifically what "lonestar" means, but if its a farm/breeder he may have added his own mixture... probably red bloodline, to give the golden/red shoulder, and saddle feathers.

My first gamefowl were greys and hatches and the crosses looked a lot like that...

Something I bred not too long ago... Hatch, Spanish and grey cross... looks like law kind of...

He was pea before trim owner said he was the one to trim but he didn't breed the bird, cousin gave it to him. And jshubin that's what I though the pea must've been hatch, just not sure because I tend to stay away from hatch unless it's lieper. Ugh. Thanks again!

Hatch Grey brood. His full brother was Red.

See but the way hatch hits that grey is different, could brown red blood be a possibility ?

My grey seems to have darker tones.. Shame I won't be able to breed him to another grey till next year.

Only grey hen I have is 50 Joe Goode a quarter each of unknown grey and supposedly blue mug but her brothers are all whacks of colors and her dad was all white bottom. (Yes I know whites a dominant color and mugs carry a ton of random s***)
