Our salmon boy fell for our blue girl and we've ended up with a bit of a mix.

The girls look straight blue, but our boy Marcel is a definite mix.

My husband likes him and wants to continue. What should we be looking for in this colour mix?

That's a proper color for Faverolle if blue. It would be blue pattern gold duckwing or called blue salmon. Faverolle males are always duckwing. What is the blue bird it was mated to? Are you looking for standards of perfection for the breed? As in the cross is of two breeds so will have to select for body type and continue breeding for selection to get back to Faverolle standard.

Did he mate with a splash blue bird? That would make sense for all offspring showing blue. Andalusion blue should have lacing. To work toward color you'd select the birds to mate that had the most lacing in attempt to have more expression in offspring. Your cockerels chest should be more pronounced laced blue. You'd also not mate the blue girls expressing red in blue. Rusty color, red highlights or leakage is the bain of blue color.

He is result of blue Faverolle hen and a salmon rooster. The other blue salmon that we have are pullets and look more salmon like. They are 2nd generation. Mum was blue salmon and dad salmon.

We're interested in what they should look like and what the standard is
