I’m a New Guinea fowl owner. I have three 5 months Guinea hens. I found an egg in the coop today and I was wondering if it’s a Guinea hen. I also have two chicken hens in the same coop. Is this a chicken egg or Guinea egg?

Looks like a chicken egg to me.

In the northern hemisphere, guineas don't normally begin laying until mid March.

I have one female and two male guineas, and I just found an egg last night while putting them up, so they are out of the cold. Is it too early for my female to start laying eggs and is it possible that they could be fertile? I got my guineas back in late July of 2024, so they are fully feathered and all of that, but I have not seen any "evidence" of the egg possibly being fertile, but I threw it in my incubator just in case. Any info on hatching and raising guineas would be much appreciated!

Unless you are providing supplemental light, it is early for guineas in the northern hemisphere to be laying. Normal time for them to start laying is still a month or two away.

I would not add eggs to the incubator as they are laid. Save them up for a week and them put them in as a batch.

For some reason, my guinea hens actually started laying really early in the season, so maybe it isn't that uncommon?

It depends on your location and whether or not you provide supplemental light and the age of the guineas.

First year layers in the southern states have been known to lay as early as November for a brief while after which they stop and resume laying at a normal time.

People intentionally provide supplemental light to keep their chicken hens laying through the winter. The supplemental light will throw off the guinea's diurnal clock.

At least one turkey owner found out that their outside night light affected when their turkeys began laying.
