Guinea hatched her own eggs

I haven't seen the bobcat on the game cam for a while, so I finally let everyone out last Friday!

Mama guinea was quick to leave the coop, and after reuniting the white male guinea has been like glue at her side. The first day only three of the young guineas were brave enough to step outside the coop. Each day more got braver, and today she's trotting around with all twenty-two younglings. She looks like a bride with a veil of guinea keets most of the time. Today she decided to lead the gang on a field trip to my deck.

I wish the bobcat hadn't prevented me from releasing them sooner. They're so interesting to watch, and so much more self assured than my incubated guineas who all look as though they think something is going to eat them every second as they explore the world. It's amazing how much confidence having present parents gives keets.
