We have five male guineas. One is three years old and the others are two. This summer they have become very lazy. They spend a lot of time laying in the driveway or in the shade instead of foraging the property as they have done in the past. They make a couple quick loops around the house each day but don't even venture into the woods any longer. We are being overrun with ticks on our 10-acre property this year. What could be wrong? Do I need some females to help motivate them again? (Our females always get eaten by predators unfortunately.) Suggestions please!

Maybe set up some shaded areas, put out some water bowls dotted around the area and/or throw out a little scratch or frozen treats to motivate them to forage? I don't have much experience with guineas, but that helps with getting my chickens foraging instead of laying in one spot.
