Has anyone ever grown buzz buttons, electric daisies, szechuan buttons, toothache plants etc?

This plant is just too much fun. I love 'em. If you've grown them, and/or have any tips, please talk about it here!

I also have questions, as I'm trying to grow them from seeds right now but it's kind of difficult : ( Any tips from people who have grown this flower from seed?

Ah ha! Successful update! :wee

Don't these little guys just warm your heart? This morning on the maybe 5th or 6th day all these little kids were suddenly up and at em.

Turns out the secret ingredient for growing buzz buttons from seed is h u m i d i t y. They just love it apparently. I got an old plastic cover to go over that tin, and used my trusty mister on it maybe twice a day or so. Combine that with the sunniest spot in the house and thank goodness it worked, or I would have been very disappointed.
Stay tuned for more buzz button fun and excitement :pop

Very, very unsuccessful update!

:hit
I took a closer look at my beautiful buzz buttons are realized, to my horror, they're f****** tomato seedlings. I could tell because 1. They looked like tomatoes and 2. they had little tomato seeds stuck to their heads. On the positive side, I now have more tomato plants, instead of just the five that had survived the unfortunate event described in the next paragraph...

I know what happened; a few weeks ago my dad had stumbled over my tomato seed startings and spilled them all over the floor, blaming me for their untimely death because of placement even though they'd been in the same place for a week. He then made me scoop all the spilled soil (and seeds,) back into the big bag o seed starting soil, and from there everything got mixed up.

When I planted my buzz button seeds in that same soil, some tomatoes had come along for the ride and germinated.

Luckily I have about 25 seeds left over. This will be my third attempt in getting these things to germinate, and my hopes are very very low. I'm starting to think I was sent a bogus batch. 100 seeds and not one germinated in 2 seperate tries? Or maybe they're just picky lil guys.

Well anyway stay tuned for more buzz button fun and excitement :fl

I love this thread so much and I can't wait until you actually have some buzz buttons germinating and growing I am interested to see! I got a bunch of fun stuff from Bakerscreek but I don't think I also got these BUT I do remember going back and forth on if I "NEEDED" them or not :p Anywho, the main reason I decided to reply is I don't have an excuse other than I am lazy to why I confuse seedlings....atm I am not sure if I have cantaloupes growing, or cucumbers, or any of the other various plants that look very similar when the first few leaves come out. I need to start planting and tagging them with a strip of waterproof paper or something with the name and date. I always plant stuff, realize I need to get going on other things and decide that "ah, I'll know what they are once they germinate" sometimes I do, other times I forgot to note what the seed looked like when they first pop up and now I'm left staring at these healthy little plants almost yelling at them "WHAT ARE YOU!?" lol

Exactly!! Since that unfortunate rant occurred I've started embracing these weird new seedlings more...I know they are all tomatoes, though at this point I don't know what type so I'll have to wait for them to produce their fruits...
