Hello everyone! :frow I have2 chickens and 1 rooster. I’m not sure what type they are but I do know all 3 are different. My little tiny what I believe is a fancy smaller breed has 3 new little chicks and they’re adorable. We have a VERY unruly rooster named Rick and he’s a real prick. He attacks us daily and it can be very annoying and painful. He got me bad yesterday and now my foot is swollen and tender. He used to be sweet seeing I raised him from a tiny chick, but now he’s very defensive over his ladies. I understand why and he’s great at protecting them, but don’t bite the hand that feeds you, ya know?!:jumpy
Here are some pick of them when they were babies, and some of Rock as an adolescent. He’s way bigger now.

Sorry to hear about your rooster situation!

Some roosters just go through a cranky phase, and some stay that way. I have a five-year old Iowa Blue rooster who, while he isn't at all cuddly, is fine in his middle age.

My Cochin Bantam rooster, Billy, who was born last spring, started out as a very sweet chick. As he got older, he began thinking it would be a good idea to run up and peck at me. And, forget that bit about the hand that feeds them. Billy had no reluctance to attack even as I was pouring out food.

I ALWAYS pick him up when he does that (he is quite small) and gently carry him around for a bit. The attacks are less frequent now. He is beginning to understand that he is in charge of his group of hens, but I am in charge of EVERYBODY.

I hope your boy settles down. Congrats on the new babies, and welcome to BYC!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frowGlad you joined.
I suggest you rehome Rick with full disclosure about his attitude. I don't consider human aggressive cockerels/roosters to be normal. More often than not, there is some behavior the human does that brings out the attacks.
I've had many cockerels come through my flock over the years and only one remotely aggressive one. And I still have him as he is the head rooster and an awesome flock leader. I rehabbed him to tolerate me and we've been fine ever since.
