I had been searching online for something on chickens and i realized there is a site full of chicken lovers which is interesting :).

I have 4 chickens now for almost 4-5 month . Along the way i had 2 rooster who died cause they were already infected when i bought them. I also bought 5 baby chicks and raised them for approx 1-1.5 month and they got healthy and fit and one of the infected rooster above gave them a terrible virus and they all died the chicken got the virus too but the medicine i got from the vet worked in time but did not do any good for the chicks.

So now i have 4 chickens and i brought a new healthy rooster from a relative so the rooster is fine and fit and has been along the chickens for approx 1 month.

The reason i joined this site was i have started collected eggs from almost a week or so back and have like 7-10 eggs so my question is when will the chickens get broody?

I have two daughters age 4 & 6 and they watched a Youtube video of chickens and eggs and then hatching and they are obsessed with chicks and ask me when will our eggs give babies :D....

So any advice please let me know ....

Thank you

Welcome! I am recently new myself and you will find a lot of knowledgeable people...I bought my first chicks via mail order June 2017 and have had 3 go broody this 2018 summer...not quite at the 1 year old mark, but close. In fact I have 1 sitting now with chicks due this coming Saturday and the broody hen is right at a year old...so just on experience and observation I guess maybe a year old or close to before becoming broody...Good luck on your chicken ventures!

Welcome to BYC!

You have come to the right place for great people and great information. Everyone is is always willing to help in any way they can!

I agree there are breeds that dont brood and if they do its maybe only like twice or so in their life. Pictures would help yea. Or you could even post in the Breed and Gender thread.

Also check out the Learning Center, it has tons of great information too!

ENJOY!!!
