New to BYC. Loving all the info. Have had 4 chickens for two years. Just expanded with 6 new chicks. 2 BR, 2 white otpingtons and my neighbor just gave me two I don't know what they are yet. Here they are and I'm pretty sure they are pullets.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes they do look like pullets to me. How old are they? They sure are cute!

So glad you could join our community and enjoy your birds!

Thank you. I'm not sure about age. My other 4 chicks are about 7 wks old. So they are at least a month older. Here are my Orpingtons. Any idea when I will know if roos or hens?

I agree. After some research I'm thinking speckled Sussex and Plymouth rock. The Plymouth rock just snuggles into your arms. So sweet. A young 21 year old girl loved them as chicks but was tired of them pooping in her moms garage. Poor chicks didn't know dirt or grass. They were a little confused first day with our chickens, but now loving everything and acting like chickens:)

Welcome to BYC!

I agree with your one girl being a SS. Here's a photo of one of ours, ours are 1 year old now so a bit more mature in appearance than yours:

Love the SS, great tempered girls and so pretty. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do ours!

Nice to have you join us and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you. The SS is new but she is so pretty and curious. I have 3 golden sex links and one buff Brahma. She is my favorite.

. The golden sex links lay almost every day. I love it. The Brahma is pretty regular too. Out of my new six chicks I know I have one rooster. He is s BR. Waiting to see what Orpingtons will be. Hopefully hens. I love my little rooster. So brave and watchful. I've handled him the most and he is so tame. He's like OK let's go walking around. My 4 kids love it all. They all have a favorite and named them.
