Hello! I am new to BYC but I have been around chickens on and off for most my adult life.

I raise Australorp, White Plymouth Rock (WPR), and Cornish Cross chickens. Currently, I have three flocks: one focused on breeding Cornish Cross with Australorp, another working with WPR and Cornish Cross, and a third flock that serves as my breeding stock. I’m always learning through this process and happy to share what I’ve discovered along the way!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! Sounds like a beautiful flock! I wish you luck on your breeding project!

That sounds like an interesting project! I'm assuming you are raising them for a nice dual-purpose bird? Do you have any pictures to share? I'd love to see the results of your crosses.

Thanks for joining! Welcome to BackYard Chickens!
Sure is fun for me. I am mainly concern with breeding a chicken that is strong enough to survive the extreme climates in Arizona, doesn't have heart issues, has a broad chest and a strong feed to meat conversion ratio. I started with really understanding the Australorp then I moved on to breeding Cornish cross and understanding how to raise them to live longer.

Hello and Welcome to BYC. Glad to have you here with us in this fun and poultry loving community. Wishing you great success with the longevity issues with the CX breeding. I have two pet CX hens that turned two years old on OCT 31 of this year. They are a real hoot to say the least.
