Hi all, I've been a reader for years - finally made an account haha. Used the advice here to hatch my first cortunix quail and they're doing great! 12 of them are 3 weeks old (I think a mixture with Italian, pearl). Started from Craigslist eggs
I have a soy allergy so they're on a soy-free chicken feed I supplemented additional protein to to hit nutritional requirements. Still keeping an eye on their nutrition because I know a soy feed would be better. Now that they're going to need additional calcium I'm interested in sourcing my own oysters, otherwise I'll buy the regular oyster shells.
So far they've been indoors with my dog so they learn not to spook from dog barks, and I learned my dog's allergic to them They're silly birds and love to dust bath. When they're grown enough I hope they take well to moving outdoors. Built a reinforced cage that can transition between ground tractor and off the ground with AHFK24 rabbit kit parts
