I just signed on but have been relying on Backyard Chickens for awhile now. I am a suburban chicken-keeper with a standard suburban city lot in the Los Angeles area. I have 2 Rhode Island Red hens that are about 2 years old. They are the last of my second flock. I was given a baby chick last Halloween that turned out to be an adorable baby rooster! Pip is about 12 weeks old now. Beautiful guy—Looks like a black Australorp. And then, I mail ordered 4 day-old chicks that are getting close to 8 weeks. One Super Blue Egg layer (!), one Barred Rock, and 2 Buff Orpingtons. Been at this since 2011. Thanks for helping me enjoy my backyard flock!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens glad you stopped in

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me will never remember from this post. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes.
