My name is Jessica, owner of a new and upcoming business on Whidbey Island, Ayden's Farm. We are a farm to table operation until we get our egg room finished.
I have had chickens as a kid, and I have had my own flock since 2012 when we started as a hobby farm. We currently have approximately 40 chickens (7 of which are roosters) no not all run with my ladies. We have 11 ducks most of which hatched on our property.
We have a variety of breeds, a little of everything in order to provide a wide variety of eggs to our community. We even added 3 bantams to our flock this year to keep our little dwarf chicken company.
Found out about backyard chicken through doing online searches many years ago and never joined just read all the good info. And so finally decided why not lol. Chickens are my hobby lol. My family is small and consists of myself, boyfriend of 15 years and our son who will be 5 in November. Our son is why we went from hobby farm to business. We also have a 21yr old standardbred horse, 2 dogs, and 2 goats. Not only am I owner of Ayden's Farm but I also work as the Manager of our local Portable storage facility.
