We are a homeschooling family in the Texas Panhandle working on building a homestead! We inherited our first set of hens, 5 Barred Rock, last weekend, from a family member who was no longer physically well enough to care for them.
I love watching how interested the kids are in the chickens, and how friendly this batch is! Even their clucking sounds sweet. We also have rabbits and a veggie garden. We enjoy archery, hunting, camping and fishing as a family. We have a kid that plays basketball & guitar, as well as one that does ballet and plays piano. The toddlers mainly just love learning about the animals around them. I’ve only known about BYC for about a week, it came up when I was doing google searches for different breeds, and it seems very informative so far! I joined in hopes of making informed decisions for which breeds to add to our homestead in the future. If you read this whole thing, I’m really amazed!
