Hello!

Welcome to BYC!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens, but have read a lot about them! I recently got chickens in June. I absolutely love keeping chickens!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have six female chickens.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I have three black sexlinks and three buff orpingtons.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Watching them dustbath and letting them climb all over me

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading and listening to podcasts

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a homeschool dad with four kids. Along with my chickens I have 2 dogs, a cat, and a rabbit.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I discovered BYC through googling chicken related questions.
Great intro btw! (5) What genres do you enjoy? I mainly listen to Mr. Ballen's podcasts but I read a variety of genres, always looking for recommendations! (6) If I may say, props to you dude. I have 3 kids & have contemplated homeschooling but I think I *may* end up in an asylum 😂

Thanks! I love reading books on theology, mysteries, comedies, sci-fi, and honestly it really depends on the book. I just enjoy reading! My most recent read was "The Mutual Friend" by Carter Bayes. That was really good! I also read through the "Before the coffee gets cold" series and that was so beautiful and deep. I enjoyed it a lot!

As for podcasts I like "The Bawk Talk", "Coffee with the chicken ladies", "Good Inside with Dr. Becky", and "How we made your mother." All great podcasts!

As for homeschooling, it's so fun! I wouldn't go back. I love the extra time it gives me with my kiddos! 😊

Ooh, I'm a big Dean Koontz fan myself (mystery, suspense & sci-fi)! Ill have to check out that series to switch things up a bit:) I'm seriously limited podcast wise lol so I'll have to try those too, thanks!
I can definitely see the bonus in that! All of my kids are too young for school at the moment (my oldest misses the "cut-off date" by a couple months) but I already fill my days with reading/writing & tons of things that I'm sure qualify already lol
