I just got a silkie chick yesterday along with a few others. She is eating and drinking and looks to be just a few days old. She cries all day until you pick her up to hold her and then she stops. Their brooder is at the temperature it should be but she still walks around and cries looking for someone to hold her. Can anyone give me help with what to do with her?

Have you got a stuffed toy to put in the brooder for her to cuddle with, or perhaps a little blanket/cloth she can snuggle under? With the blanket/cloth make a tent with it so there are lots of folds and snuggly areas. Hopefully she'll settle down. Is she eating and drinking well?

She is still eating and drink well. We built her something she can go under but she won’t go under. We also made her little nest like things out of a little blanket for her to lay with but she won’t with that either. She tried to snuggle up under the wings of the other chicks but they won’t stay with her. Once you pick her up she stops crying but as soon as she’s put back down she starts to cry again unless she’s eating or drinking.

Sounds like my baby orpington chick. She was the only chick hatched from her batch so I think she feels lonely. I have to fashion a cradle out of old blanket for her and keep her close to me. Like yours, the moment I put her down in her box, she starts crying.. Hopefully she will grow out of it soon.

Second this! Something to watch out for because it can be a sign of a bigger health issue, but some chicks are extra needy.
