Greetings! I am new to raising chickens and would greatly appreciate feedback on a few questions...in April I bought some chicks from a local vendor. I chose 9 pullets, 3 of which were Speckled Sussex. I was really excited to have this breed. It soon became apparent that one was definitely a rooster, but as they feathered out I also noticed that don't look like Speckled Sussex! Now I'm also starting to worry that all 3 might be roosters! I have deduced that they might be brown leghorns.
My questions:
-What breed are these? Are they brown leghorns?
-Are they all roosters?! (I notice long green tail feathers developing on a second "hen".
-What is the normal protocol when a small local vender specializing in chickens sells you the wrong breed and sex?
Photos:
1."hens" in question 1 week ago
2.obvious rooster, but what breed...
3.pointy green tail feathers developing on "hen"
4."hen" today
The third chicken, (the smaller one in first photo) is slower to develop but has all the same color as the other two
Thanks!!!
