I dewormed my chicken with fenbendazole, Safe-Guard dewormer for goats supension 10% (100mg/ml). I mixed 10z in to 1 cup of water and poured on 10 pounds of pellet chicken food. I removed all food from the coop and just gave them this for the day. What is egg withdraw time?

@casportpony or @dawg53 should be able to answer that question for you.

There is no official withdrawal time for laying hens (it's officially recommended that you don't worm laying hens because of the lack of studies done)

The withdrawal period in most animals is very short; chickens apparently aren't good at absorbing the drug, so there is no withdrawal period for meat chickens.

The usual time frame recommended is two weeks, but I have no idea where people got that number. (I think it may have been pulled out of someone's jumper and everyone else went along with it, but don't take my word on that) Some wait longer, up to a month. Some don't bother waiting at all, on the principle that if the wormer is used on everything from cows to chickens, the amount of residue left in an egg is probably not going to harm humans.

Thank you both for responding . I was going to wait at least 10 days to 2 weeks to be safe. However the egg waste is disappointing. So I was hoping to find an answer that would help me accept the waiting.

Some people don't wait, they just eat the eggs.
