Hello everyone i live right beside a pond and I was feeding the local ducks lucky duck food but I had to stop because they were runing my lawn and making yard smell so bad. Since I stopped every 2 weeks a duck is showing up and dying right in front of my eyes and now today one of the white muscovy that lets me pat and walks right upto my doorstep looks limp😭😭 I jumped straight into my pond and got her/him out im not sure what gender I took them to vet and they suspect botulism I need advice the whole pond is full with ducks and few muscovys and I'm afraid they will all end up dying

If possible I would recommend testing for Avian Influenza.
Welcome to BYC by the way!
Ty glad to be here with others that have more knowledge and would you know how I would test that? Where I live the council does nothing for the pond so it's up to the locals. The ducks that are dying in front of me look like they struggling to breathe and can only move their wings now and then and there eyeballs still looking around

Is the pond on public or private land?

Where in this world are you located?
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

The pond is on public land and I'm in New Zealand and thanks for telling me that I just edited location and put it in

It could well be bird flu which is a problem in NZL

The vet should have tested for it. i would give them a call. But be aware that if it is bird flu, all the ducks will have to be culled by your animal control folks
Thanks for advice is bird flu same symptoms as botulism? Trying to find out because soon il have 50+ dying ducks on my yard if it's something in the pond
