Asking the more experienced rabbit nuts here. This poor baby was born unexpectedly while I was doing morning chores but managed to wiggle out of the cage and on to the ground where it looks like a chicken grabbed it. I didn't really notice it at first but now it's leg is getting red and swollen. These kits are now 6 days old and the baby has been gaining weight well.

We are raising these for meat but every one matters to our small project, and I'd hate to have to cull one of the 3 we got. I'll upload some pics in a few.

You might need to take it to the vet. Worse case scenario is amputation, but I think from the sound of things, a splint and some antibiotics/ anti inflammatory medicine should work.

I’m a chicken person, so I have ideas but I’m more well versed on the avian side of things
Yes, us too. Lol I just can't justify running up a vet bill for a unplanned meat rabbit baby. These hard lessons of farm life aren't easy. I do have antibiotics, I just need to figure which kind and the dosage.

Sorry to hear about your kit, Nathan. Keep the wound clean and monitor for infection. You might need antibiotics or pain relief. For urgent needs, consider a pet prescription without vet services to get the necessary medication without a vet visit. Good luck!
