I was driving and found poor chicken on the side of the road on some grass. It looks like she’s wounded but it’s not infected. I have chickens of my own and want to take her home. I know I’ll have to keep her separated from the flock for a while but any other tips. Do you guys think she’ll make it?

Poor baby, i hope she doesn’t die :(
Thank you for rescuing her!

In the first picture, it looks like shes got a wound? Or something a bit bloody? Could you get a close up pic of there?
Some electrolytes might perk her up a bit!
Yes it looks like a hole puncture but it doesn’t look infected. Im gonna put some vetericyn and then some betadine on the wound

You can put a dab of plain Neosporin or bacitracin ointment on her wound twice a day. Or take some vaseline or other ointment and mix it with a drop of the Betadine. You’re a good person to rescue the hen. Hopefully she won’t suffer. Meat birds can have broken legs or heart problems since they are usually ready for butchering at 6-8 weeks of age. If she survives, and doesn’t have internal injuries, I would not let her overeat, but get some exercise and limit her feed. Let us know how she gets along.

Poor thing🙁 she'll at least have a chance at life if she pulls through. I don't know if this is true or not but my grandfather always said that when they transport chicken like that for slaughter they drug them to keep them calm. When I was younger the Amish hardware store had a box of them someone found on the road. They were so clam and just laid still and slept for almost 2 days after my grandparents brought them home. My grandma had a soft stop for all animals probably were I get it from. I don't remember how long they lived but she had them for awhile.

Thanks I will try to put that on her wound. It’s sad that she’s a meat bird and doesn’t have a high chance at life but right now she is bathed and clean and in a safe place ❤️

She did look super sleepy and kept closing her eyes. I would have to wake her up so she could drink water
