Hi all! I am very concerned about this chick & don’t think it’s going to make it. It took a long time to hatch and when it was born, it had this bulge on its belly. It can’t get up and walk. I tried to let it dry out, but I could tell it needed help, so I put I wrapped it up and gave it some water. Is there anything I can do to help it have a chance? It’s still in the incubator, which is dirty because 8 other chicks have hatched in there. This came from an egg from my friend’s flock. The other 2 never hatched. Any advice is appreciated.

How long ago did it hatch? Baby chicks can take awhile to learn how to get up and walk. It kinda looks to me like it wasn’t ready to hatch yet. But I’m not an expert.

Around 5 this morning, but her leg is all weird too. Like this one almost looks broken to me. I have her in a box in the brooder with the others. She is separated, but it was so
Dirty in the incubator that I wanted to get her to a clean environment and we only have 1 heat lamp. I did give her some water and I tried to give some food, but she can’t get around to it.

That leg looks awful! I feel so bad for her! I wish I knew what to do but I’m not familiar with leg issues. Sorry!
