HELP! hen has weird scab-like thing all over her butt!! [PICTURES]

at first, I thought it was a bunch of dried up poo. so I gave her a bath in warm water and tried to scrub it off with a toothbrush. it didn't work. it's this giant scab-like thing that's almost covering her vent! it smells terrible...enough to make you gag

... it's probably infected. what should I do???

does it appear to be her insides ? cold be prolapse - but think pics may help .

I'll try to take a picture of it... it's kinda hard to though cause it's hidden under her feathers.... I'm not sure how old she is cause our neighbors gave her to us. I think she's really old though. it's not her insides i don't think

That sure looks like a prolapse. Put her in the sink and soak her good for 15 minutes or so. Take her out and put prep h all over it and gently try to push it back in. If you don't have any prep h you can put regular white sugar (it will help it draw back in, I don't know why, but it does.) Dry her off (blow dry on low) and put her in a box or crate preferably inside where she can stay warm. Darken the crate if you can since it would be best if she doesn't try to lay for a few days. You may have to repete the process a few times and you may need to end up culling her. There are lots of threads on prolapse so some research is also in order. Good luck with her.

it's dried on there really good. O and I forgot to say that about a month ago. I saw this ball of feathers on the ground. I thought it was a dead baby chick or something. so I picked it up and I saw skin on the other side of it. and i looked at the chickens butt and somehow the skin got torn off her but and it turned into a scab. the scab hasn't healed since then. I think she sat on the ground while it was frozen and her butt got frozen to the ground and it tore off....
