So my daughter found a chicken at the entrance of the inside of their coop yesterday laying there acting lethargic and had been pecked on the top of her head pretty good. I got her out and she had poop all stuck to her however her vent wasn’t blocked. It wasn’t diarrhea, it looked almost like dog poop just smushed and there was quite a bit. I gave her a 30 min soaking bath in epson salt. Got her cleaned up, gave her some water and checked her vent again it was clear and I couldn’t feel any blockage. I kept her isolated not sure she would make it through the night. Checked on her this morning and she was still alive however she still won’t move either of her legs. I tried to do some more research checked her crop it’s clear. She will drink but doesn’t want to eat. I have absolutely not idea what else to do because I can’t get any antibiotics where I live. Can anyone tell me what we need to do?

Where are you located in the world?

How old is the hen?

When was her last egg?

Any lice/mites?

I'd continue to work on hydration, give some sugar water or electrolytes. Once she's drinking, then offer wet mushy feed and/or bits of egg or fish to see if you can entice her to eat.

Hard to know what's happened with her. If she should have laid an egg and hasn't then I'd start giving Calcium asap. Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily for several days.

I’m in the south, no lice or mites. Not sure on her last egg and she’s right at 7 months old. I did try an egg earlier she wouldn’t take it.

She’s still the same, I’m giving her vitamins and trying to get her to eat but she won’t. I think they might have broken her back. I’m trying to give her time and love to see if she will pull through
