Alright here are the details: On Monday we noticed that she was not eating, was still drinking, and looked lethargic and squatting a little. Monday night we brought her inside and put her in a crate. From observation she had runny poop on her butt and appeared to be straining. Tuesday afternoon we gave her 4 epsom salt baths, and put vaseline around her vent. After each bath she appeared to be straining to push and it looked like maybe there was a shell-less egg? I also felt her crop Wednesday morning and it felt squishy which could indicate sour crop. She did another bath on Wednesday and mineral oil was put into her vent. She has been pooping the whole time, very watery but still consistent. She has drank lots of water with tums in it as well as electrolyte water. She ate a few meal worms on Tuesday as well as a watery egg yolk mixture. Wednesday she ate a few meal worms but that was it.she has continued to drink water the whole time but has had very little food. We have called all the local avian vets and none of them will see her because of bird flu concerns :(
1. what could be wrong with her? Is it egg bound or something else?
2. What is a good liquid diet to boost her energy?

Stop the baths since that will stress her more. Give calcium with vitamin d once a day up to 7 days while she is straining. Keep her separated on a warm towel in a quiet spot. Offer some soft watery scrambled egg, and mushy wet chicken feed made fresh up to her beak. She may be having some issue with her oviduct and if they are passing soft eggs, it can make them very weak. The calcium could help pass that, and make shells harder. Check he crop each morning, and note if she has a bad odor from her beak. Since she is having egg issues, her crop might be just slowed down.

Yeah I stopped the baths after the one she had Wednesday night because it seemed like it took a lot longer to settle down after the baths. She’s in a warm room upstairs in our house with a humidifier going. Where would you recommend getting the calcium supplement? And I have seen other places to give applesauce, do you recommend that? Also thanks for identifying that egg issues could slow down the crop, I couldn’t find an answer to that question anywhere else.

Any update? We've lost two hens over several years to water-belly, ascites. I always think they're egg bound until the baths do nothing and the hen is still alive after a few days, but eating less and walking less. Hope your girl is doing better by now.
