I currently have a pekin duck egg in the incubator. It is day 27 and for the past few days I have seen the duckling trying to break through the membrane but has had no luck. I am a first timer and feeling the temptation to help the little fella out. HELP!

so i'm not a duck person, but i looked it up and it takes Pekings 28 days to hatch. this would mean that he is hatching early. how long has he been like this? if he has been trying to get out for, lets say a day or two, and he still hasn't gotten far you will need to help him. gently crack off some shell and carefully pull back the membrane. good luck with this chick :fl !

P.S. welcome to the BYC!

thank you for your help. I’m not no genius on duck eggs but there has been a lot of movement at the top of the egg, also pushing against it. For about 2 days.

There is a guy on YouTube, I think his page is “a chick called Albert” he has videos on this issue and what you can do.. check them out.

Thank you, I have just checked his page out. There isn’t any videos on what to do about membrane pipping. Still suck 😬 thanks for your help tho.

Here are some pictures of this helps anyone.
