I'm not sure what to do now!!!! all we need is the roof and the front and back doors and it's finished! earlier pics are in my albums, we've since added holes for more ventilation. we've painted the plywood gray to help protect it from our wonderful rainy weather and now this orange fungus is sprouting up from the tiniest crack! I've put so much money into this coop and run and I do not want to tear down the coop to start all over again. plus there's this greenish black mold growing on the paint. and I can see my partner's shoe prints from kneeling on the plywood to cut it. Before it was even painted, and we painted it white and then grey.

I've used Oxine, I've used Peroxide and I've used vinegar. sorry I do not have enough tea trea oil.

please any advice is much appreciated

I'm stumped. How about contacting your County Extension? They must know the flora of your area and maybe they can advise. Keep us posted! And good luck.

Tried bleach but the orange powder seems to be coming out from between the layers of plywood. liquid rolls right off of it and sends the spores flying everywhere. I'll get some pictures and post them in my albums here shortly.

Oxine is supposed be one of the best cleaners out there. it is HIGHLY concentrated and must be diluted to use and to fully activated the chemical it must be mixed with activator crystals (citric acid of no less than 99% purity) I use this in my spray bottles at 5 drops per gal after washing my furry tanks and bird cages with apple cider vinegar

currently for our drinking water purity I use 3 drops per gallon. there is no harm because I do not use the activator crystals.
coops can be fogged with this and birds may be misted with this.

is the wood pressure treated or not? If PT was it allowed to dry before painting? Did you use latex or oil based paint? KILZ brand primer sealer is a great product for stopping mold/mildew.

The plywood came from shipping crates so I'm not sure how it was made, the 2x4's from Lowe's, the white paint is a semi gloss latex base, the grey is a flat latex base. I was hoping to have it finished by now with the run extended up around it but seeing the fungus just put a stop to everything and it's been raining so much here too.

I would first get a mask before dealing with the panels again. Get a scrub brush and goto lowes/Home depot and find a mold and mildew remover. Scrub it away rinse and let dry. Then use KILZ primer/sealer on it and wait and see. If it appears again, sadly you will be faced with starting with fresh lumber.

Here we can use latex based paint, it has to be oil based to hold up.

I'm in Orlando so I see all kinda of fungus growing out. First if it was a shipping crate, I assume it was made with the cheapest wood avaible, hence the cheap not water proof glue that is feeding the Fungus, think kids paste. I'm sure once it's super dry it will go away, but will be back when the moisture returns... Sorry

Just ripped the coop down to an empty frame. the plywood was nothing but a soppy wet sponge just covered in mildew and it was even insulated this styrofoam sheeting. We burned everything except the frame.
