Hi I have 7 week old cuckoo maran chicken. Not sure if a boy or girl. Can’t have a rooster where we live and their posture is starting to resemble a rooster. What do you think? Thanks!

Comb and leg color aren't right for a cuckoo Marans, but could be a mix of that breed, or maybe a Dominique, though they should have yellow legs. I would give it some more time to determine gender, keeping an eye on the comb for growth and color spurts.

Interesting. Thanks!

I agree with Dominique pullet. They have a very distinctive upright posture, often stretching their necks out as far as they’ll go. They can also be a very bold and friendly, which could be misconstrued as rooish behavior. The greyish cast to her legs makes it likely that she’s female, and males should have more white in their feathers. The coloring of the chick in this thread is more like a male, though the OP never confirmed the gender:

My Dominique’s legs weren’t very yellow when she was younger, but gradually got a bit brighter in color as she grew. However, if your chick’s legs are indeed white she could be a mix like Jed mentioned. She could be part Marans part Dominique, as that would account for the rose comb and white legs, both of which are dominant traits over single combs and yellow skin.

Here is my Dominique pullet at 8 weeks for comparison:

She has always been very round-chested, while my Dominique is not.

Thank you! I didn’t know her breed as a hatchling so cuckoo marans was a guess! I agree she looks like your Dominique, this is great! It means we can keep her!!
