Hello! So this morning I looked into the hutch and saw a kit sitting on the wire, still alive. I had no idea my doe was pregnant, and took action to remove it and the mother and placed them in a Tupperware. I put some rabbit fur Ive been collecting in there, since the “nest” the doe made was 3 small tufts of fur. I’m getting a bit concerned though since she hasn’t had any other babies (she still has them in her belly), and occasionally she looks under her stomach and I can see her having contractions but still no kits. Should I be worried? She’s not a first- time mother, and I don’t have a nestbox for her. She also hasn’t tried to make a nest with what I gave her and it was pretty hot outside today.

I used to raise rabbits and I had the same experience. My does would have one or two.. I'd think they were done... then I got home from school to something like EIGHT KITS!

I wouldn't worry TOO much. Put some hay in the nest box and put the fluff you have in there. It seems like too little but I had a good survival rate!

Thank you for tagging me! And thanks for those compliments! I’m sorry...I’ve never dealt with rabbits birthing yet.,.

@chickens really @oldhenlikesdogs @Bunnylady might know
You are welcome ! And the operative word is YET...When I was in college I had two "female" rabbits only to find out that they were male and female. I then came home one afternoon to find Scottie having kits and Fiona quite proud. :lau

Hello..Definitely place bedding in the pen and the fur..Walk away for a couple of hours because Momma needs to feel safe to continue to give birth..fingers crossed she successfully has them..
Thanks! She still hasn’t had the others, so I put her in my room with the lights off. I also fed her tums around 3:50 pm (Central time), and will be leaving for work. My hope is that she’ll either have them while I’m at work or while I’m asleep ;-;

Thanks! I made a little nest out of hay and fur from one of our fuzzylops, the baby is still fine and the mother is fine too, I’m just hoping the other kits come out soon. I don’t have the money to take her to a vet :/

Well your sure she has more to have because it's life threatening at this point because she had the first hours ago...
Yeah, I felt them in her belly, but I’ve been told she probably got stressed and halted the kindling, and will probably do it late tonight or early tomorrow :/ if she doesn’t have them by tomorrow I’ll be pretty unsure what to do because I don’t have the money to take her to a vet right now.
I will say that the kit is still alive and that the doe is panting a bit
