Hey everyone! I have 2 roosters that hatched together, they are about 2 years old and have always gotten a long. One seems to be more dominate and monopolize the hens. Well last year I added 6 copper maran hens and my RIR mix rooster took to them. He's the less dominate one. But they've never fought over the girls.

Yesterday I saw the 2 boys fighting briefly and I broke it up. We kept them separated overnight and my husband didn't tell me this morning they were fighting again.

I brought this boy inside because I found him sitting behind a bush. I flushed his eye because it was swollen shut. We'll there's no eye in there. It's gone. I cleaned it out and stuffed some terramycin in there.

What can I do for him? Should I get rid of the other roo?

I feel awful. I have him in a bathroom right now and he is eating.

Unfortunately, roosters fight for dominance. Injuries occur. You've done wound care for the eye, and that takes care of that part. Next, you will need to see if the two boys can adjust to the aftermath of the fight. Most of the time, the fight settles the dominance issue. But sometimes, it does not, and the roosters continue to battle and injure each other. In that case, you will need to decide which one to keep and either cull or rehome the other.
