Hi all. We brought home our baby chicks about 4 weeks ago from a local hatchery and although all were sexed, I’m wondering what I was sold. All of them appear to have a comb at this point, minus little Sweetpea in the back who is surprisingly the same age as the rest - she has a great appetite but struggling to grow.

What are your thoughts on their sex or too soon to tell? I bought 2 Lavendar Orpingtons, 2 Buff, 2 Cream Legbar, 1 BBS Ameraucana and 1 Barred Rock.

Thanks in advance!

what i think is the barred rock looks like a roo... could you label the pictures so i know what breeds are which?
Sure I’ll try to label and maybe get better pictures. I have a video too but I guess you can’t upload those

4 weeks is a little too young to tell with any certainty. But from those pictures no one jumps out at as an obvious cockerel. The black one does have a larger comb, which could mean cockerel or it could just be a pullet with a big comb.

Is it possible Sweetpea is a bantam or bantam mix, that could account for the size difference if everything else seems fine with eating, drinking, pooping and energy wise.

We have one that grew much slower than anyone else. She is a chocolate Orpington. She is catching up now to the others at 7 weeks. I agree with the above poster: no one is looking like a roo yet.
