My muscovies are 12 weeks. I still haven't figured out how many are female and male. They have begun to separate sometimes and"chase" each other. Do I need to separate them?

Ahhh, thank you. There has been no fighting, just running around. They used to move in a raft, but today they separated for awhile. They are not mature until around 5 months, correct?Hopefully one of the experts is going to help out. From my limited experience the first difference I noticed was in the legs. Females more delicate. Males with tree trunk legs. I'd try to compare them when they are together. The females and males also make a difference noise with the males being more of a hiss.
I don't think you need to worry about the chasing unless one is actually getting hurt. They are figuring out pecking order in the flock.
Thank you so much!! I will try to get a better photo. Going by size, it does appear that we have four males and two females. I was hoping for the reverse. Anyway, they are all beautiful. I appreciate your comment. The males are going to be much larger than the females. Their feet are also much larger as well. It is always possible to have a small male or large female, but majority of the time size is the easiest way at that age. Male caruncles grow in first and faster. It is hard to tell in a picture but it looks like 2 females.
Also they are mature at 28 weeks of age.
What cute ducks!! I love the colors. I have Muscovies, too. Mine are all white. At 12 weeks, I am pretty sure I finally know what sex they are. Following the advise of the more knowleged, look at their legs: males have thicker legs, females tend to be smaller (you will notice a change as they age), and females tend to have a more pointed tail. Please keep posting pics! I love to see other Muscovies, and hear your stories.
Hello
I got some individual pics of my Muscovy ducks. I was wondering if anyone could tell me their sex please. I do appreciate them they are almost 8 weeks old. I numbered them is any one would could help with letting me know if they are male or female..
Thanks

Glad mama and ducklings are safe! My mama duck is on her second clutch. We are trying to fence her in without disturbing her. The first ducklings she layed I had to rescue because something yanked her off her nest and she wouldn't go back to the nest. I raised those with success. I may need to do the same with these new ones. She does have a better place for her nest. Hoping the best for yours and mine.I got another batch of ducks but hawks got two of them yesterday while i was fixing them a place. Now I have 2 baby ducklings left that are 12 days old. I have the new mama and new ducklings safe now..
