I've looked through the list of names and such...I want to have a theme for my girls. I have named all except my 8 barred rocks. A theme such as all food names, cars etc. I want to hear your creativity

Just wanted to say hi from SE Michigan. Names, I didnt' go with a theme except for the fact that I ALWAYS end up with dogs that are boys and was super excited to finally get some females around here!

Hi fellow Michiganders! Southwest Michigan here...

We've got 8 chicks and my daughters named them all. Apparently the theme was "Names that sound almost exactly the same so we all get confused": Daffy (short for Daffodil), Taffy, Polly, Molly, Copper, Caddy, Maddy, and- oh my word, I can't even remember the last one! Probably Baddy or Bopper or...

But for you maybe types of flowers or favorite cities or...pizza toppings (or is that too morbid?)

My mom is an animator, and a huge Jim Hensen fan, so all of our poultry is named for either cartoon characters or Muppets. Our first pair was Gonzo and Camilla. The turkeys are Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum. The first 3 ducks were Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
I've always wanted to do a Dr Seuss theme, and confuse people when I rattle off long and complicated names.

A lot of people go with southern names. Seasonal names might be cute as well - so if you got them in the spring, then all the names would be spring related, or if you got them in March, all the names would be March related (Mardi Gras, Spring Break, etc). A flower theme might be nice for pullets.
What is your interests/career? I think that's the best way of going about choosing a theme - choose something that you know a lot about, and will have significance for you.

We named ours after Disney princesses/movies: Anastasia, Rapunzel, Penelope, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Rose, Aurora, Ariel, Esmerelda, Giselle, etc.

You could always go with spices (Cumin, Parsley, Pepper, Dill),
flowers,
cute bugs (leaf-hopper, bumblebee, moth, butterfly),
ancient goddesses from whatever area strikes your fancy,
the moons of Jupiter and Saturn,
trees (Maple, Birch, Willow),
etc!

What are your loves or passions? Backgrounds, hobbies, etc.

My mom's parents came from Poland, so my Polish will be Galabki, Pierogi, Kapusta, Dupa, etc...

Me da's folks were from Ireland, so my Eggers will all be lassies: Coleen, Aylen, Niav, Sile...

My BR's? They're an American breed, so: Prolly all those lovely older ladies I've admired so much such as favorite aunts, my sisters, etc.

Once they're out and about and I go out to the coop or run, I want to remind myself of things I enjoy when I call their names.

One other thought: When my sisters and I started having gran-yungins, me da said, "Before you decide on a name, go to the front door and holler the name down the road. If you don't like the sound of it, don't call your child by it!"

other people may find this thread useful too, let's keep it going!

I also thought of colors, cities(memphis, atlanta) going by the alphabet, flowers...

My kids seem to have changed the names of our chicks (sorta).

I still call the 3 of them Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (although I can hardly tell them apart)

The wife and kids are trying to go with: Nugget, Biscuit & Stir-Fry
