Not sure if this is the right place for this but looking for some help trimming my polish feathers so she can see better. I've looked around at videos and threads but everything I find seems to be for older birds. My girl is 7 weeks old. I've seen that you dont want to trim blood feathers or pin feathers. But just need some clarification on what, when, or how much I can trim. Is she to young? Can I trim the tips?

I have trimmed our silkies' eyes dozens of times, but never to a chick. You could gently trim the tips but be so careful of any new feathers coming in you can't see.

When they are adults, we used a kitchen scissors. This works so much easier with two people, but after they get used to it, I can do it myself. We've recently found hubbys electric razor works way faster and I feel so much more comfortable using that than a scissors by their eyes.

Yes, you can take a good inch off at least. I have always kept all of my polish trimmed starting from when they start to get puffs so big they can’t see (right around the age of yours). I just trim it round kind of like one of those old school chia pet plants.

Yea I read somewhere to use round tip scissors around the eyes but trimmers sound like it might be better. Thank you
