Help!!!!

We’re on day 21. Chick has been peeping for days and has had an external pip for over 24 hours with zero progress or movement. Just constant peeping. I had moved the eggs from one incubator to anotheR for hatching as quickly as possible as I am hatching eggs on different intervals so I wanted to get here in its own hatching Bator. I started peeling back some shell because I’m pretty convinced he’s stuck and needs help. I got this far and stopped and wrapped him in a warm paper towel and quickly put him back. I can see him wriggling but not much is happening. Should I continue to help or let him figure it out? Also he popped in the dead center of The shell. Not we’re the air sac was. I’m pretty new at hatching and I don’t want to loose him if at all possible! Someone with experience please help also attached is a pic

The danger in doing this for the chick is that he isnt finished devolping. My wife has successfully helped 4-5 chicks who seem to be stuck. Humidtity is very important, the egg can be too hard if dry and he can get stuck , shrink wrapped, in the lining if too dry.

If you go forward be ultra careful as it is very easy to injure them. But is seems like if he is healthy that is a pretty big whole.

My humidity has always been high so I am very worried I shrink wrapped him when I moved him. Although I have seen very mixed opinions on the probability of shrink wrapping a chick from a quick transfer so I don’t know. and with the spot that he pipped I’m starting to think maybe he’s in the wrong position?

Just moving them is likely not an issue. Especially if you moved them on day 18 and not day 21. It would only affect positioning. If the temp is a little low they might be a little slow. Some chicks wait to day 25 though i havent had one hatch past day 23 personally.

I had a chick like that. It was cheeping and pecking a small hole, but it didn't make any progress much the whole day. I decided it was stuck, so I carefully helped it, and put it under the mother hen. I knew there was a good chance it wouldn't live, but I don't think it was going to get out of that egg. Next morning, it halfway outside of the mother, and it was dead. I put it completely under the hen, but I had my doubts about that hen. I hope yours survives.

I would pull back the membranes but stop if liquid starts seeping. And/ or moisten the membrane w/warm water to soften it by dabbing it.(if it was mine)
I do that, not telling you you must do it. Just an opinion.
Assisted hatched birds sometimes become special needs birds, not every single one. But the chance exists. Natural selection is occurring. Only the strong survive.

Thanks guys. Just went and checked again and I think his membrane is drying out. Nothing is happening still. I’m gonna give him a bit longer and then starting pulling the membrane back some. Thanks for your help.

Both did. But were special needs birds temporarily.

Just wanted to update you guys who helped me. After waiting a while and still no progress I pull back some of the membrane and made the little guy a bigger opening. He just fully hatched about 30 minutes ago. He seems pretty strong and still has a little bit of his yolk sac attached. I think he just pipped way too early and his sac started to dry resulting In him getting stuck. Hopefully he’ll absorb the sac and be fine. Definitely am going to pray for this little guy. He’s my first assisted hatch.
