So 2-3 days ago I noticed my hen not walking. I brought her inside and put her on puppy pads. She pooped and it was pure black. I knew that meant she was internally bleeding. She is eating, drinking, alert and talking. Just not walking and has black poop. BUT she’s also been having brown poop. It’s like a pattern of brown, black, brown, black. She HAS pooped out the entire staple as I saw it shining in her poop today. I have been giving her scrambled eggs with emeraid powder in it. As I do not have money for a vet, what should i do and look for now that the staple is out? First two pics are the black stool. Third and 4th are the brown

Hi,

I would put her on some Poultry Cell or Nutra-Drench (vitamins) water every other day for a week or so to replenish her for any lost blood. It could have scratched its way through her digestive system but should heal up.

Do you see any blood coming from her vent or just her varied colored poops? It's a good sign if you're not seeing anything more than the poop.

I haven’t seen any blood! Just the varied colored poops.

Update: 2 brown poops; one black with another piece of the staple in it. Hopefully that’s the last part of the staple!!!
