Hen Keeps Laying Yolks

Last month, my 3-year-old orpington laid egg yolks and whites and kept straining for a week until she laid the egg membrane. I gave her calcium twice a day and a round of amoxicillin for ten days during this time.

She eventually laid an intact shell-less egg a week ago and a regular egg with a thin shell yesterday.

I had been giving her calcium once a day everyday since her incident about 3 weeks ago, but today she laid egg yolks and whites again.

I have 3 chickens in 100 square feet but one of the hens bullies her a lot and I'm not sure what to do about it, and if this is causing her to keep laying shell-less eggs. They have oystershell available 24/7 and eat all flock feed.

Should I start giving her calcium twice a day even though it stresses her a lot? And, should I start her on another round of antibiotics even though she just finished her last round about 2 weeks ago?

See that she's eating a nutritionally balanced poultry feed, limit treats and provide oyster shell free choice.

I would not give Calcium 2X day. She's actually likely had enough, but you can give her 1 Calcium Citrate+D3 tablet once daily for another week, after that I would stop the Calcium.

She's already had 10 days of ABX.

Sounds like she have some type of shell gland problem or reproductive disorder. You have a thread where she prolapsed and one for the membrane as well.

Stress can make it harder on them overall, so that could play a part in all of this. Do you have areas that have some cover or barriers where she can get away from the others to have a little space?

Thank you, I stopped the calcium tablets, and she's doing okay so far. I will try to put barriers in their run to give her some more private space to see if it helps the issue
