Hen or Rooster? (16 week RIR?)

I bought day old chicks from MyPetChicken. I got a variety pack (supposedly sexed female) so I do not know their exact breed. They are all 16 weeks now and I am trying to determine if this one is a rooster or a hen. She has virtually no comb or wattles, and she seems to be roughly the same size as my buff Orpington and australorp (same age but I got those two from TS so I know their breeds). But her tail feathers have some curves and some dark black ones, her neck feathers are shinier than my others and her feet might be a little bit larger? I can’t tell if those are the pointy saddle feathers or not. All these pics were taken today.

Welcome to BYC! :frow

I agree, pullet! :celebrate

Looks like NOT pointy to me.. also I agree that's tiny and light colored comb for stated age.. is it a straight comb or a pea (I can't make it out in the pics)? Also virtually no wattles very much like my non bearded EE sisters from TSC about 1 week older.. a cockerel would be looking much different. Also.. she looks more like a production red, red sex link or other hybrid type to me, but I'm not super familiar so don't take it as gospel!

Saddle reference pics from google..

So I’m not sure because I am so so new to chickens. But I think maybe straight? It’s much smaller than my other chickens though that seem for sure like straight combs. This pic shows it off center a little better. She’s not good at holding still for pictures, all my chickens LOVE my phone lol.

I’m so happy to hear people say she is a pullet, I’m not allowed to have a rooster where I live. And I appreciate the guess in breed too, all I know is she’s likely to be a brown egg layer breed.

It can be quite hard to tell sometimes.. but with folks saying Buckeye and also seeing the newest pic you posted.. I do believe it IS a pea comb.

Here is a write up/link on them..

Also another link which confirms MPC does indeed carry Buckeye in their line up!

Glad you got a good solid answer! She's lovely! :wee
