I have a 2.5 year EE hen who I often see spitting (often being multiple times a day, for as long as I've had her). It does not seem to be a problem, and I'm not worried...just curious.

She is healthy and lookin' good. I sit out with the chickens and I only notice her spitting up because of her reaction: she takes a few steps backwards as if surprised by her spit. It comes out as a mouthful of saliva (with a saliva "string" til she backs away from it...like she's drooling?) Its actually quite funny, and again, her health does not seem compromised in any way. She eats, drinks, and is one of my top hunters.

So...why does she drool/spit up? Any other drooling hens out there? Lol

This is very wired I am not quite sure what it is but I know for a fact it has happened to my 3 month old hen and my 1 year old hen And also my 2 week old chicks and after a while they are perfectly fine even it has happened with my ducks it kinda scares me and I take a look at them after wards but it usually is okay with me I kinda thought It was throwing up but no it's clear and it's saliva maybe this is the same situation I'm not sure maybe mines is different but still you should take a look at her for a while just in case you can never be too safe

Hello! I’m not sure what EXACTLY the cause of this is, but I’ve had multiple chickens do this (mostly hens/pullets) this seems to happen to them soon after they take a drink. If you’ve ever caught a chicken after it taking a drink, and have held it upside down (carrying by legs) sometimes you’ll see saliva/water dripping from their beak, as the water is coming back up, since gravity is suddenly against it. If they are just standing, it could be that they drank too much, Or they bent down to continue eating, and the water just came back up.

Can you post a video of her doing this?
How long have you had her?

Chickens should not be spitting, that is not really normal at all. Check her crop first thing in the morning before she eats/drinks to see if it's empty. Look inside her beak for any lesions.
If you have a vet, take some stool samples for testing.
