My hen was attacked by a fox a week ago. I cannot see any visible injuries on her. But she was struggling to breathe when I took her in. She was unable to stand and could only lie on her side. Now she is able to pick a bit on the food(not much) and drinking. But cannot walk. She can stand if supported on her right side. Then she just falls over. She cannot raise herself on her own. Her left foot seems to have shrunk compared to the right. Today I saw the post about 3 injured hens and advice from @azygous and started giving her the water with sugar, salt and baking soda. How can I give her Vitamin E and B complex? Can I powder half a tablet of each and add to the sugar water drink?

Sometimes it feels like she is dropping the food when she is trying to pick the food. ie: not able to hold on to the food while picking.

I am trying to take her out thrice a day and let her stand supported on her side for some time. I am not sure if I will do her more harm by doing this or if I should let her do that more.

Any other advice is appreciated.

Will the shrinkage of the foot show up in a picture beside the other foot? Is the color the same? A chicken sling may be something that you could make for her to get her up, and help her reach food and water. Then you can let her out of it to rest and sleep. I would mix a little chicken feed with water, and add a little cooked egg to offer her several times a day. Tube feeding could also be considered if she won’t take the food and water held up to her beak. Does she move her toes on the injured foot? This thread has several pages of chicken slings that can be made at home, and look at the first 2 pages for the basic designs and ideas:

@Eggcessive, I tried to make a sling two days ago. The first day she had her legs down. Afterwards she wanted to sit down. So now she is not lying on her side like before, sitting down tilted to her right side. hence the reason for me to take her out and try to make her stand for some time. She is sleeping now. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow morning. I have provided water and food near her so that she can access both. She is drinking water. She is picking on food, but I am not sure if she is eating enough.

She is moving her toes and adjusts her position sometimes.

Let us know how she is getting along tomorrow.
She has had some oats today. No change in her status on the leg usage. Even though it is the left leg that seems to shrink, when I try to make her stand she puts weight on her left foot and not on her right.

Hope you have seen the pictures of her feet. Is there anything you can infer from these pictures?

Further her poop is all water and the oats she ate does not seem to have digested. Any idea what could be wrong ? Is there anything else I could do for her?
