Anyone out there have any ideas for nesting box for a chicken with a injured leg? I have her in a nesting box with clean straw, however, I don't want her sitting in her own feces. I change it a couple times a day. I need to wash her bottom each time. In addition she is still laying eggs! Gosh I love her. I'm looking for a cleaner way to keep her until her leg heals.

What's wrong with her leg?

You can place her in a sling for monitored periods of time to help keep her upright and cleaner.

Hens will often continue to lay eggs when injured, but may eventually stop production which can take weeks.

Thank you.

I believe she dislocated it. There is no bruising, swelling or compound fracture.
Hopefully that will heal up soon.

If vet care is an option, that's always a good idea, but often there are no vets that see poultry or it's $$$$.

Here's a splinting manual, I don't remember seeing anything about dislocations, it's been a while since I read and used it, might be worth giving it a glance to see if there's something useful in there.
