I have 6 free range (UK) hens and four started laying pretty much daily a month or so ago and for three of these it's their first eggs (chicks from the summer).
I have had chickens for as long as I can remember and we have always just accepted that they stop laying in winter (and never made any efforts to change this). I have done nothing differently this year (no change in diet (just corn and scraps) or adding any lighting), so what could be the cause? Just interested, theyre laying even with the snow!
(The three pullets are cream legbars and the last one is quite an old mix that has never laid in the winter before).
(Sorry realise this is the wrong forum but can't seem to change it or delete the post
