Hi, I am new to chickens. I am in the process of researching as a beginner to raising chickens.

I do not have any chicks as of yet, but I am actively looking for chicks. I haven't been able to find any. Online, most hatcheries won't have any available until at least September-October.

I am looking for Barred Rock chicks and/or Rhode Island Reds.

I have not begun raising chickens, yet. I plan to very soon (as soon as I can find chicks). I am wanting to raise chickens for eggs (and as pets too, more likely).

My other hobbies are reading and spending time with my children.

I have 2 children. 1 teenager, and a 2 year old.

I found BYC on Google. I have only known about BYC since yesterday. I joined, so that I can obtain more information on raising chickens.

Welcome to BYC! Have you considered incubating eggs to hatch… it is a lot of fun but incubators can be expensive though.

Hi Elizabeth, have you checked out what's posted in the Buy-Sell-Trade forum? You might get lucky and find some chicks there. Things come and go often so check more than once.
