Hi, I'm Naomi. I joined this group to learn more about raising chickens. I have had chickens for a while now but wanted to get into raising Silkies, and I don't know where to get them. A lot of the places I have checked out have huge shipping fees if you don't buy more than 25. I love the ones that have the big fluffy heads that look like snowballs. I don't know what those are called, can you breed them to look like that? or do you just get what you get?

I would assume you're still thinking of a silkie but polish breeds have feather hats as well.
I don't know much about silkie buying but I see many people incubating their own chicks when they're wanting less than 10-20.

BYC Has its very own buy and sell forums, I would look there first but I do see people getting them from etsy, ebay and several other websites. I suggest getting them locally, FB marketplace, craigslist or other sites like that may have something near you.
