Hey everyone! Just hatched my first eggs in my incubator! 4 eggs left out of 14. First one pipped 43 hours ago. Two of the remaining eggs are the two breeds I wanted to hatch the most. We are on day 23 from the day I put them in to start incubation. The humidity has been around 58-60 for two days due to a newly developed crack in the incubator bottom. At what point do I give up on the other eggs and open it up? One chick in particular had a hard time hatching and I really want to check on it, give food and water but dont want to kill 4 remaining.

Shipped chicks go several days without feed or water. My general rule is 36 hours after first chick hatches...because I'm a "bird in in the hand" type. I want to start focusing on the birds I know I have. But, if you know the unhatched eggs were progressing up to lockdown and those are the ones you want...waiting 2 days or so after first hatch should be okay.

Welcome to BYC!
Remember after eating the yolk chicks have 48 hrs of food supply. Have sav a chick electrolytes in water ready in the brooder and chick starter 20% medicated feed. Water first hour then food. Dip beak tips when first provide water. Should be ok. Good Luck!
