Thanks for the add! We are a new duck family to 4 pekins we incubated, which gave us 2 female snd 2 male. We figured we needed more female, so we bought 2 1 week old crested pekins and they are still in the brooder. We built the fort knox of duck enclosures for our duckies. 1/4 inch hardware cloth 12 inches into tge ground and up all sides and across the top. Their Waddle on Inn (kids named it, found it online, thought it was perfect bc the wild turkeys line up at the enclosure wanting food on the inside lol) Anyway, They have a little cottage that is off the ground a bit. pic attached. Here to learn snd connect. One of our females has a cut on her ankle it was bleeding a little last night at dinner. I figured eating and layinh down for the night might help
it heal? But, after readjng about infections etc I am worried. Clearly not Bumblefoot. Not sure what to do. I do ckean out their pool twice a day, Disinfect the pool several times a week. We clean out the duck house really well once a week. Bc it is cold here now we layer dry hay every few days then every Friday its a totsl clean out, disinfect, let it air out and all new bedding,

The duckies forage with us as we walk the pastures to check on things two-three times a day, Completely baffled. She is not lame or refusing to walk. As quacky as ever. Thoughts? Do i use neosporin on a duck?

:welcome :wee:ya:yesss: Hello and welcome to BYC, You found an Amazing Poultry Community to be a part of with many great knowledgeable members, who are more then willing to jump in and help you along your journey with any questions you may have. :)

As @rjohns39 recommended, Triple Antibiotic Ointment is a must have in your duck/poultry first aid kit. Once an infection sets in it's very hard to get under control without an expensive Vet visit and antibiotics. There is a great Duck section on this Poultry Forum with a wealth of valuable information from Duck members to help you with keeping your ducks healthy and happy. Best of luck. :)
