My son and I built 5 of these transport boxes and used them this weekend.

They were perfect. I had 52 birds to process and they held them overnight securely. Cleanup was easy with just a little scraping. Mine are 10" tall and I ripped 1/4" slats out of 2x6 scraps. I believe they would have cost $14 each if built out of new material. The hardware is the expensive part. The hardware screws stuck through the wood so I ground them flat. Maybe 30 minutes for cut out and assembly.
I also made their cones some time ago. I used 20" metal and made the bottom 14" instead of 17". Using their design my birds were flipping over and twisting around. I also rolled the inside edge of the metal so it wouldn't cut the chicken's skin. Experience is a good teacher.
