A little over a month ago i noticed a chicken limping. I checked her out. No bumble foot. I know how to treat that. Ive done it before to my drake. Anyway this chicken is still limping. Now she isnt putting weight on her leg at all. But she will use her foot to roost so im pretty sure its not a foot or toe injury. Ive looked at her leg a couple times. Cant see if it is broke. But i dont want to hurt her leg more than it is so i only looked a couple times. But she is moving around and jumping on the roosting ladder. So her quality of life is great still. It is winter now so could that affect it healing whatever it is?? Anyway i can see to find out what exactly the problem is?

She may have suffered an injury or sprain. Is there any swelling of the joints, scrapes or green bruising on any part of her leg? If I have a chicken with a sprained leg, I usually confine them to a pen (or wire dog crate) with food and water, and force them to rest it. Jumping to a roost may keep it from healing.
